DIVING INTO THE BOLERO -MATERIAL

FIN Kinetic Orchestran Bolero -teoksen maailmaan sukeltavassa työpajassa ryhmän tanssijat Luca Bologna ja Hugo Sellam opastavat osallistujia teoksen liikekieleen ja -materiaaleihin. Kurssilla tutustutaan teoksen materiaalien luomisessa käytettyihin metodeihin ja keskitytään löytämään eri laatuja ja nyansseja asetetussa liikkeessä. Kurssilla tanssitaan niin soolo- kuin parimateriaalia. Kurssi sopii tanssin ja sirkuksen ammattilaisille ja -opiskelijoille. Opetuskielenä englanti.

In a workshop that immerses participants in the world of Kinetic Orchestra’s Bolero, dancers Luca Bologna and Hugo Sellam guide attendees through the movement language and materials of the piece. The course explores the methods used to create the work’s material and focuses on discovering different qualities and nuances within set movement. Participants will work with both solo and partner material. The course is suitable for dance and circus professionals as well as students. The workshop is held in English.

BIO
Luca Bologna grew up in a dance family in Italy and started to dance at an early age in his parents’ school, IdeaDanza. His background is in hip-hop, breaking and contemporary dance.
During his studies in SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance), Luca deepened his skills in dance theater and floorwork techniques. His interest lies in the virtuosity and sensibility of movement, with a focus on how mind and body learn and cooperate together. Since his graduation 2024, Luca has been freelancing and joined Kinetic Orchestra in the fall 2024 for the company’s piece Silence and for Bolero in 2025.

In addition to performing, Luca has been actively involved in teaching and leading workshops from 2018 to 2026. His teaching repertoire includes improvisation techniques, floorwork, and partnering, as well as classes in breaking, hip-hop, salsa and bachata. With a Libertas Diploma as a qualified pedagogue he continues to share his passion for movement and creativity with others.

Hugo Sellam is a freelance artist based in France. Trained at the Conservatoire of La Roche-sur-Yon in France and the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) in Austria, with a background in breaking, he is a multidisciplinary artist skilled in both contemporary dance and music composition. As a dancer, he collaborates with international companies, including Kinetic Orchestra (Finland), S’poart (France), and Cie La Méthode (Switzerland), while also sharing his expertise through workshops and regular classes (breaking). His work as a dancer has been part of the development of his music creativity which has led Hugo to collaborate as a composer with artists and companies such as Edivaldo Enersto, Compagnie Aniaan, Cie la Méthode, Collectif La Maison and Elia Patrizi.
